About Directive Compliance Systems

A South African compliance and cold chain monitoring partner for pharmacies, hospitals, laboratories, clinics, veterinary practices, cold storage and the food industry.

Directive Compliance Systems was founded in 2026 by a team with hands-on experience running an independent community pharmacy. That practical background shapes everything we build — from the SOPs we write to the way we run a mock inspection.

That matters more than it might sound. Most compliance guidance is written by people who have never had to run a dispensary and maintain a compliance file at the same time — and it shows, in advice that is technically correct and practically impossible. We built DCS because we wanted the opposite: guidance written by people who have actually stood in front of an inspector and answered for their own premises, not just studied the regulations from the outside.

What started as pharmacy compliance work has grown into a monitoring service that now reaches well beyond pharmacy walls. The same discipline that keeps a dispensary inspection-ready — accurate records, equipment that can prove itself, documentation that reflects how a site actually operates — matters just as much in a hospital ward, a diagnostic laboratory, a veterinary practice, a food production line or a cold storage warehouse. Our temperature and humidity monitoring service supports all of these today, alongside our pharmacy-specific compliance work.

Who we work with

  • Independent and group pharmacies — SOPs and policies written for your specific premises, mock inspections against real SAPC criteria, pharmacy layouts and site plans, new licence applications managed end to end, and cold chain monitoring for fridge and dispensary storage.
  • Hospitals and hospital pharmacies — continuous temperature and humidity monitoring across wards, pharmacy stores and cold rooms, with alerts and logged records that hold up when a stock item’s storage history is questioned.
  • Laboratories — monitoring for reagent and sample storage, so temperature excursions are caught the moment they happen rather than discovered when a batch is already compromised.
  • Clinics and medical practices — the same monitoring discipline applied to vaccine fridges and medication storage, without needing an in-house IT team to set it up.
  • Veterinary practices — cold chain monitoring for medication and vaccine storage, built for a practice environment rather than adapted from a pharmacy product.
  • Food industry, cold storage and warehousing — monitoring at the scale a depot, distribution site or production facility needs, with reporting that stands up as evidence for a food safety audit or client requirement.

Whatever the setting, the principle is the same: the record needs to exist before someone asks for it, not get reconstructed afterwards.

What we believe

  • Compliance should be maintained, not rescued.
  • Generic templates fail inspections. Documents written for your premises do not.
  • Every hour spent on paperwork is an hour not spent with patients, samples or stock — so we do the paperwork.
  • You should never be surprised by an inspector, an auditor, or your own fridge.
  • The same standard applies whether we are writing an SOP for a pharmacy or monitoring a cold room for a laboratory — the work has to actually hold up, not just look right on paper.

Why teams choose us

  • Written for your site, not templated. Every SOP, layout and report is built around how your premises actually operates.
  • Hardware that just works. Monitoring hubs and sensors arrive pre-configured, so there is no WiFi setup, no IT call-out, and no staff training required.
  • One point of contact. You deal with someone who knows your file, not a rotating support queue.
  • Straight answers. A mock inspection report tells you what is wrong and how serious it is — not a vague pass or fail.

What we are not

We are a private consultancy. We are not the South African Pharmacy Council, SAHPRA, or any regulatory body, and we do not act on their behalf.

Responsibility for your premises’ compliance stays with you and, where applicable, your responsible pharmacist. Our job is to make that responsibility easy to carry.
